Project Consultation
Gowest Gold Ltd. (Gowest) is committed to respecting the environment and enhancing the social fabric of local communities. Timmins Gold has the stated objectives of respecting the land, water and air and the areas adjacent to our work. In adherence to this commitment and to the regulatory requirement set by the Province of Ontario and the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines (“MNDM”), Gowest has undertaken consultation activities with potentially affected and/or interested participants, including Aboriginal peoples and other stakeholders, for the past three years. This has included the recent preparation of a formal “Aboriginal and Stakeholder Plan of Consultation,” which was developed under the requirements of the Ontario Mining Act (2010) at the request of the MNDM. This plan outlines a series of activities throughout the permitting process that will build on the positive steps undertaken to date and meet regulatory requirements and expectations.
