Rochelle Collins, PGeo, Chief Geologist

Ms. Collins is a professional geologist with over 20 years progressive experience in surface and underground mining operations. Formerly Chief Mine and Resource Geologist at Tahoe Resources, she has also held senior positions with Aurico Gold and Teck Resources.


Greg Hart, Mine Manager

Mr. Hart has 38 years of direct experience leading mining and construction activities. He has held several senior operational positions at Goldcorp’s Porcupine Gold Mine in Timmins, including Underground Manager and Manager of Operations. Previously Mr. Hart was VP, Operations with Dumas Contracting.


Mike Mascioli, Director, Mining & Projects

Born and raised in Timmins, Ontario, Mr. Mascioli attended the Haileybury School of Mines, graduating as a mining technician. After working underground at the gold mines in Timmins, he attended Michigan Technological University and graduated with a BSc in mining engineering. Mr. Mascioli moved to Tumbler Ridge, B.C., where he worked for Quintette Coal. He moved to Sudbury in 1988 where he worked for INCO/VALE in safety, operations and projects for 29 years.


Kevin Montgomery, PGeo, Manager of Exploration

Mr. Montgomery has over 26 years of experience in mineral exploration, including 2 years of underground exploration. He has an extensive background in gold, nickel and diamond exploration. Prior to joining the Gowest exploration team, he worked most recently as a Senior Consulting Geologist for Golden Chalice Resources where he discovered the W4 Langmuir nickel deposit in Timmins. His gold exploration experience in Northern Ontario and Quebec includes work with Sudbury Contact Mines Limited, Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited, Placer Dome Inc. and Gold Fields Canadian Mining Limited. In the late 1990’s, he was part of the team that discovered the Victoria Creek gold deposit in Northeast Ontario.

He has a Master’s of Science Applied Mineral Exploration degree from McGill University and a Bachelor of Science Geological degree from Queen’s University.


Jeremy Niemi, Director, Exploration

Jeremy has been part of the Gowest team initially as a board member and currently as a technical advisor for over 8 years. He is a geologist with over 20 years’ experience in the mining/resource industry, both at corporate and operational levels. Mr. Niemi is currently the Vice President, Exploration for GoldQuest Corporation. Prior to joining GoldQuest which he served as Vice President, Geology with Noront Resources and before joining Noront he was Manager, Technical Services, for Kinross Gold Corporation. He started his career with Inco Technical Services Ltd. in 1996, working on the Victor Deep project in the Sudbury basin. Mr. Niemi is a member of the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario and holds a BSc Honours degree in Earth Sciences from Laurentian University.


Garth Wilcox, PEng, Project Development Manager

Mr. Wilcox is a professional engineer with over seventeen years of international mining experience. Most recently, from September 2006 until the company was bought by Argonaut Gold Inc., he worked for Castle Gold Ltd., where he was a key member of the development team that designed, constructed and operated gold heap leach facilities in Guatemala (El Sastre) and Mexico (El Castillo). Mr. Wilcox has extensive project development experience (gold, nickel, molybdenum, copper, zinc) as a process engineer with AMEC and Aker Kvaerner/Davy, as well as experience with JNE Consulting as a supervisor for steel processing facilities to ensure compliance with Ministry of Labour standards. His roles included engineering study development and costing, commissioning and plant operations.
