
Mr. Romain has been involved in the mining and mineral processing industry for over 20 years and will guide Gowest from being involved purely in exploration towards becoming a development and mining firm with producing assets. He has been the President and CEO since 2008 and has overseen the early stages of consolidation and transition.
Most recently, Mr. Romain was President and CEO of a Canadian manufacturing company that sold products exclusively to the global mining industry. Mr. Romain took the company public as an income trust in 2005 and, with the regulation changes to the income trust sector, the company was sold to a private equity group in 2007. Mr. Romain is a native of Timmins, Ontario.
Mrs. O’Donnell is a career accounting professional with over 25 years experience.
Mrs. O’Donnell most recently was CFO of a gold producer whose operations were focused in Mexico, where her responsibilities included overseeing the company’s financial operations in three countries and managing cash flows from sales of gold from two mines. Prior to that, she was the CFO of a Canadian manufacturing company that sold products exclusively to the mining industry. Mrs. O’Donnell was an integral part of the team that took the company public as an income trust in 2005 and then sold it to a private equity group in 2007.
Mr. Koningen is a professional engineer (metallurgy) with 16 years of international mining experience.
Mr. Koningen is currently an independent metallurgical consultant, managing process development projects, test work and metallurgical studies on behalf of clients. Most recently, he was Vice President of Project Development, and before that, VP-Operations and VP-Engineering for Castle Gold Corp. and Aurogin Resources (prior to its merge with Morgain Minerals to form Castle Gold). Before joining Castle Gold, Mr. Koningen was employed as a Senior Process Engineer (mining) with Kvaerner Engineering. Mr. Koningen's broad international experience in metallurgy process design and operations has allowed him to make significant contributions to bringing two operating and profitable gold mines to production for Castle Gold. Mr. Koningen also serves as a director of Virgin Metals Inc.
Mr. Koningen obtained his Bachelor of Applied Science, Mineral Process Engineering from Queens University in 1990, receiving both the Dean’s Gold Medal and the Athlone-Vanier Engineering Fellowship.
Mr. Roussain has spent over 35 years working in the Timmins gold camp with companies such as Canamax and Kinross. He was intimately involved with the discovery of a number of new deposits including the Bell Creek-Marlhill-Vogel deposits with Amax/Canamax and the prized 1060 Zone at Hoyle Pond in Timmins with Kinross which is presently being mined by Goldcorp. Mr. Roussain lead the Kinross geological team involved in the early development and promotion of Kinross in the Timmins camp. He is experienced in all phases of surface exploration and underground work in the development of a mining company.
Mr. Cardona has 18 years experience in the mining industry, primarily in exploration, but also in underground and open pit mine operations.
Most recently Mr. Cardona was Manager of Exploration for Castle Gold Corp. Prior to that he worked for Teck-Cominco and was part of the team that discovered the Filos deposit (now owned by Gold Corp.), and was also part of the discovery team for the El Limon advanced stage exploration project with Teck-Cominco. Previous to this, Mr. Cardona worked with Industrias Penoles in various mines all over Mexico. He is fluent in English.
Mr. Cardona obtained his degree in Geological Engineering from the San Louis Potosi University in 1985, followed by a master’s degree in Planning and Systems.
